Iberdrola Completes 65MWp Solar Plant in Saxony-Anhalt for Salzgitter AG's Green Steel Production
Iberdrola Germany has finished a 65MWp solar plant in Saxony-Anhalt, supplying renewable electricity to Salzgitter AG for green steel production. The 45-hectare facility features over 92,000 solar modules and operates under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to aid the regional energy transition.
The plant is projected to generate approximately 60 gigawatt hours of electricity annually, sufficient to power over 20,000 households and reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 23,000 tonnes each year. Salzgitter AG will purchase all generated electricity to enhance its steel production transformation, supporting the decarbonization of the energy-intensive steel industry. The construction involved multiple phases and included partnerships with Solarpro, P&Q, and EMT to foster local job creation.
