IIT Bhubaneswar Launches Indigenous Digital Substation with CPM System
IIT Bhubaneswar has commissioned an advanced digital substation featuring a Centralised Monitoring and Protection (CPM) system. This development enables real-time monitoring of the electrical distribution network, contributing to India's smart grid efforts. The project, under the National Perspective Plan of the Central Power Research Institute, was inaugurated by Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, along with key dignitaries. The indigenous substation integrates Distributed Energy Resources and enhances grid intelligence and reliability.

IIT Bhubaneswar has developed and commissioned a digital substation with a Centralised Monitoring and Protection (CPM) system at its 33/11 kV campus substation. This system allows real-time monitoring and protection of the electrical distribution network, advancing India's smart grid initiatives.
Inaugurated by Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, the project was executed under the National Perspective Plan of the Central Power Research Institute and led by Prof. S. R.
Samantaray. The substation utilizes intelligent merging units, removing the need for physical Intelligent Electronic Devices, and supports a Distributed Energy Resource Management System, enhancing grid intelligence and flexibility.
