India Advances Military Integration with Revised Theatre Command Plan
India is set to establish Integrated Theatre Commands (ITCs) to unify military operations against specific adversaries by April 2026. This structural reform aims to enhance multi-domain warfare capabilities across the Indian Armed Forces amid evolving geopolitical challenges.

India's military is progressing towards establishing three Integrated Theatre Commands (ITCs) by April 2026, focusing on adversarial threats from China and Pakistan. This plan aims to consolidate 17 service-specific commands into a unified command structure capable of managing modern multi-domain warfare, including cyber and space operations.
Under the revised plan, each theatre command will be led by four-star officers and will emphasize operational leadership and strategic planning. The importance of joint operations was highlighted during 'Operation Sindoor,' demonstrating effective coordination among the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy. Future success hinges on inter-service cooperation and effective integration, especially in real combat scenarios, which will validate the effectiveness of this military transformation.
