India Advances National Green Hydrogen Mission with Whole-of-Government Coordination
The Indian government is advancing its National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) with a coordinated approach across key ministries to position the country as a global leader in green hydrogen production and exports. The Union Cabinet has sanctioned pilot projects for hydrogen-fueled vehicles and refueling stations, while major ports are being developed as green hydrogen hubs. Additionally, the Andhra Pradesh government plans to establish a Green Hydrogen Valley by 2030.

The Indian government is progressing the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) through a comprehensive whole-of-government approach. The Union Cabinet approved the mission to establish India as a global hub for green hydrogen production and exports.
Key ministries are assigned specific roles, including the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for coordination, the Ministry of Power for implementing renewable energy policies, and the Ministry of Petroleum for integrating green hydrogen in refineries. Pilot projects have been sanctioned for 37 hydrogen-fueled vehicles and 9 refueling stations across India.
Additionally, V. O. Chidambaranar Port will develop a bunkering facility for green methanol.
Recognized green hydrogen hubs include Deendayal Port, V. O. Chidambaranar Port, and Paradip Port. The Andhra Pradesh government aims to create a Green Hydrogen Valley by 2030.
