India's MoD Launches EoI for 1000-Kg Aerial Bomb Development for IAF
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of India has released an Expression of Interest (EoI) for the design and development of a 1000-kg aerial bomb, similar to the Mk-84, for the Indian Air Force (IAF). This initiative aims to enhance indigenous defense capabilities, with an estimated project timeline of 2.5 years from EoI issuance to contract signing.

The Indian Ministry of Defence has initiated an EoI for the design, development, and procurement of a 1000-kg aerial bomb, intended for compatibility with both Russian and Western-origin IAF aircraft. The project will progress in two phases: the first phase focuses on developing six prototypes, while the second phase includes issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to qualifying development agencies.
A total of 600 bombs are planned for procurement under the 'Buy (Indian-IDDM)' category, aligning with the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020. The project requires a minimum of 50% indigenous content and allows participation from eligible Indian entities with potential foreign collaboration.
Trials will be conducted within India, and compliance with indigenous requirements will be assessed during the technical evaluation. This project is a step towards enhancing India's self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
