Indonesia and Chile to Finalize Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in 2023

GEOTHERMAL

The Indonesian and Chilean governments are set to finalize their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2023, concluding negotiations that began in 2013. This agreement aims to enhance export opportunities for Indonesian products, particularly in non-traditional markets.

The announcement followed a bilateral meeting between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet on May 12. The partnership is significant as Chile is Indonesia's third largest trading partner in South America.

Discussions during the meeting also included cooperation in fisheries, strategic industries, and agriculture. Both countries have engaged in various international forums, and the leaders expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral relations. Bachelet highlighted the potential for collaboration in areas such as solar and geothermal energy.
