Indonesia Launches Gas Facility to Boost Energy Security and Reduce Imports
Indonesia inaugurated the Mini LNG Plant in Tuban, aiming to decrease LPG import dependency. The facility is projected to enhance local industrial energy supply, contributing to national energy security.

The Mini Liquefied Natural Gas Plant in Tuban has a production capacity of 55,300 tons of LNG per year and will produce 9,800 tons of LPG annually. This initiative is expected to cut down Indonesia's LPG imports, which currently total 7.47 million metric tons against a national production of 1.91 million metric tons.
Additionally, the Abadi Masela gas field project is set to commence construction in 2027, with a budget of US$20 billion. This project aims to begin commercial production by 2029-2030, enhancing Indonesia's future energy security. The government is also addressing coal supply constraints for power plants, which had previously caused electricity disruptions, ensuring stability in energy supply chains.
