Indoor Firing Range Proposal in South Glengarry Faces Community Opposition
The South Glengarry council is reviewing a proposal for an indoor firing range by Arcane Defense, which could impact local property values and community safety. Ongoing environmental studies are addressing concerns regarding wetlands and wildlife around the proposed site.

Arcane Defense, led by Eric Bouffard, has proposed an indoor firing range on 4th Line/County Road 23, utilizing a former salvage yard. The facility aims to provide training and recreation for licensed gun owners and local law enforcement, featuring a 25-meter and a 50-meter range across approximately 3,251 square meters.
However, the proposal has sparked opposition from neighbors who have initiated a petition, raising concerns about noise and safety. Changes in zoning from the current status to Rural District are necessary for the project to proceed, with potential property value declines estimated between 3.7% to over 10%. Environmental assessments are being conducted to evaluate impacts on local ecosystems.
