Indore's Biogas Initiative Fuels 400 Buses and Promotes Sustainable Waste Management
Indore Municipal Corporation's biogas project generates Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) from urban wet waste, fueling 400 city buses. The initiative reduces reliance on fossil fuels by 16% and produces organic manure as a byproduct. Indore's waste management system processes over 600 metric tonnes of waste daily through a Public-Private Partnership with Everenviro Resource Management.

The Indore Municipal Corporation in Madhya Pradesh produces biogas from urban wet waste, with 50% used to fuel 400 city buses and the remainder for domestic use. This initiative, driven by the Swachh Bharat Mission, processes over 600 metric tonnes of waste daily through source segregation and a fleet of over 600 collection vehicles.
A Public-Private Partnership with Everenviro Resource Management processes 500 tonnes of waste daily, generating nearly 21 tonnes of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) with over 95% methane purity. The project has reduced fossil fuel dependence by 16% and lowered carbon emissions, showcasing Indore as a model for sustainable urban energy.
