Insitu Secures $8.6 Million Contract for CU-172 UAS Support from Canada Armed Forces
Insitu has received an $8.6 million contract from Canada’s Department of National Defense to support the CU-172 UAS fleet. This contract is crucial for enhancing the capabilities of the CU-172, which is integral to multi-domain intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations.

Insitu, a subsidiary of Boeing, has been awarded a firm fixed-price services contract worth $8.6 million by Canada’s Department of National Defense. The contract aims to support the long-endurance CU-172 Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) fleet, which is known as the RQ-21A Blackjack in the US.
It includes funding for program management, airworthiness services, spares, repairs, and future enhancements to the fleet. The CU-172 UAS features capabilities such as 27.5 hours of endurance and a 50-pound payload capacity, making it suitable for diverse intelligence mission sets. This advancement underscores the ongoing commitment to enhancing UAS capabilities in response to evolving operational demands.
