Intel Donates Hardware to ASU, Enhancing AI Research Capacity
Arizona State University (ASU) has received a multimillion-dollar hardware donation from Intel, boosting its AI computing power by up to ten times. This initiative aims to enhance ASU's research capabilities and foster national competitiveness in artificial intelligence.

Intel's hardware donation to Arizona State University (ASU) will significantly increase the institution's AI computing capacity, expanding it tenfold. The new ASU AI Research Acceleration Platform (AIR Platform) integrates Intel's AI accelerator chips with existing systems, allowing researchers to utilize large language models from Google and Meta.
Pre-donation, ASU utilized NVIDIA GPUs for high-performance computing; the new technology supports thousands of users and alleviates pressure on existing resources. This enables researchers to execute large-scale AI projects in-house, enhancing control over data privacy and security. The collaboration between ASU and Intel extends beyond technology to workforce development in the semiconductor sector.
