IOCL Installs 150 kW Rooftop Solar System at Guwahati Facility
Indian Oil Corporation Limited has commissioned a 150-kW solar system in Guwahati to enhance energy security and efficiency. The initiative is expected to save Rs 13.8 lakh annually and reflects a strategic shift towards renewable energy amid rising operational costs and geopolitical tensions.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has implemented a 150-kW rooftop solar system at its facility in Guwahati, projected to generate approximately 205,200 kWh annually and save Rs 13.8 lakh each year. This installation is part of a broader strategy to enhance energy resilience and operational efficiency, addressing energy supply risks exacerbated by global conflicts impacting oil imports.
The solar system supports various operational components including fuel dispensers and EV charging stations, thereby reducing reliance on conventional power sources and generator fuel costs. IOCL's initiative aligns with India's clean energy objectives, contributing to the goal of achieving 500GW solar power by 2030.
The shift towards solar energy is crucial for regions like the Northeast, where grid reliability is often compromised. As more fuel stations adopt similar systems, this could significantly enhance renewable energy capacity across India.
