Israel Establishes Eastern Region Directorate to Enhance Border Security
Israel's Defense Ministry has launched the Eastern Region Directorate to bolster security along its eastern border with Jordan. This initiative aims to address rising threats and involves cooperation across multiple government sectors and civilian initiatives.

The Eastern Region Directorate has been established by Israel's Defense Ministry to coordinate security efforts along the eastern border with Jordan. This border is deemed the longest and most vulnerable, necessitating a comprehensive national plan that includes infrastructure and community development.
Brig. Gen. (res.)
Mordechai Benita presented plans for about 40 new communities to be created along this border to enhance defense capabilities, which will include armed civilian populations. The initiative responds to the growing threat of incursions or cross-border raids, requiring a unified approach from various government branches and the settlement of tens of thousands of Israelis in the region.
