ITRI and SAES Launch High-Vacuum Packaging Getter Technology Pilot in Taiwan
The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and SAES have partnered to establish a pilot production line for high-vacuum packaging getter technology in Taiwan. This collaboration aims to improve sensor sensitivity and lifespan, addressing industry challenges. The technology integrates various processes and seeks to reduce Taiwan's dependence on foreign foundries, enhancing the country's semiconductor sensor industry capabilities.

The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and SAES have announced a collaboration to establish a pilot production line for high-vacuum packaging getter technology in Taiwan. This initiative, revealed on February 9, aims to enhance sensor sensitivity and lifespan, addressing critical industry challenges.
ITRI's president, Chang Pei-jen, mentioned that the technology integrates various processes to reduce reliance on overseas foundries. Getter technology is essential for maintaining ultra-high vacuum in component cavities, improving the stability and lifespan of microcomponents. The collaboration intends to enable Taiwan's semiconductor sensor industry to achieve autonomy from chip design to high-vacuum packaging, thereby reducing R&D to mass production time and overall costs.
