Jaguar Land Rover and Ford Issue Multiple Vehicle Recalls in South Africa
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has recalled over 120 SUVs in South Africa due to safety defects affecting the Jaguar I-Pace and Land Rover Defender models. Concurrently, Ford has issued recalls for Ranger and Puma vehicles due to engine power loss and restraint system failures.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced the recall of 67 Jaguar I-Pace vehicles sold from June 2017 to June 2021 and 60 Land Rover Defenders sold between November 2025 and February 2026 in South Africa. The I-Pace recall is due to potential thermal overload of the high-voltage battery, with owners advised to limit charging to 90% and park away from structures.
The Defender faces risks from a weak seat belt anchorage potentially failing in a crash. Additionally, Ford has recalled 438 Ranger models and 26 Puma units due to EGR valve failures and restraint system issues, while Toyota and Lexus have recalled vehicles for transmission control errors. These recalls highlight ongoing safety concerns within the luxury vehicle sector.
