Japanese Official Attends Inauguration of Djibouti's President Guelleh
Japan is reinforcing ties with Djibouti, focusing on security and economic cooperation. The visit highlights Djibouti's strategic role in regional stability.

Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ONISHI Yohei attended the inauguration of President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh in Djibouti. Onishi conveyed a letter from Prime Minister TAKAICHI Sanae, emphasizing Japan's appreciation for Djibouti's role in ensuring navigation safety in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Japan aims to strengthen bilateral relationships, particularly in development and security, including support for Djibouti's Self-Defense Forces facility. Discussions with Djibouti officials, including Foreign Minister Abdulla der Houssein Omar, focused on enhancing economic cooperation and business relations, which could lead to increased investment and strategic partnerships in the region.
