Joo Chul-hyun Proposes Eastern South Jeolla as Key Hub for Industrial and Energy Transformation
Democratic Party lawmaker Joo Chul-hyun announced plans to designate the eastern region of South Jeolla as a pivotal area for South Korea's industrial and energy transformation following the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City. A new special account will allocate 20% of the city's budget to support the eastern region, alongside annual allowances for farmers and fishermen. Seven key pledges include carbon-neutral industrial transformation and infrastructure development.

Joo Chul-hyun, a Democratic Party lawmaker, announced that the eastern region of South Jeolla will be developed as a key hub for industrial and energy transformation with the establishment of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City. He proposed a new 'Eastern Region Support and Development Special Account' to allocate approximately 20% of the city's annual budget of 25 trillion won over the next ten years.
Key pledges include elevating the Jeonnam Eastern Office, promoting carbon-neutral industry, providing a 1.2 million won annual allowance for farmers and fishermen, and attracting a semiconductor industrial complex. Joo emphasized the need for balanced development and full government support for the region's transformation.
