Jordan's Energy Ministry Signs MoU with Hotspur Helium for Two-Year Helium Exploration in Dead Sea
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UK-based Hotspur Helium to explore helium gas in the Dead Sea region over a two-year period. This agreement, signed by Minister Saleh Kharabsheh and Hotspur Helium Chairman George Percy, marks Jordan's first dedicated helium exploration project.
The MoU includes geophysical surveys, geological mapping, and training for Jordanian specialists in rare gas technologies. The ministry aims to enhance the mining sector and maximize natural resources in line with its Economic Modernisation Vision.
Global demand for helium is rising due to its applications in AI, medical technologies, and semiconductor manufacturing. A concession agreement may follow if exploration proves commercially viable. The project is expected to bolster the national economy by creating high-value job opportunities and enhancing export potential.
