Joseph Norton Academy Construction Advances in Deighton with New Facilities for SEMH Pupils
The Joseph Norton Academy in Deighton is progressing, with its steel structure complete and key installations underway. The academy will serve 132 pupils with SEMH needs and will relocate from Scissett, becoming Josie Thirkell Academy. Key milestones include the completion of the main steel frame, precast stairwell, lift shaft, electrical infrastructure, and drainage systems.

Construction of the Joseph Norton Academy in Deighton is advancing, with the main steel structural frame completed. This facility will provide a state-of-the-art environment for 132 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, relocating from Scissett as the Josie Thirkell Academy.
Internal work includes the finished installation of a precast stairwell and lift shaft, while electrical infrastructure is being established with a completed reinforced concrete base for the electrical substation. Additionally, a soakaway chamber has been installed to manage rainwater drainage, and measures are being taken to stabilize the soil embankment. The next phase will focus on constructing the building's exterior.
