Kenya is boldly charting a course toward a sustainable energy future with the launch of an 81-kilometer transmission line that will deliver geothermal power from the Olkaria complex to the western regions of the country. This initiative marks a significant step in harnessing geothermal energy, a clean resource that utilizes steam produced by the intense heat generated from the Earth’s magma. The project, overseen by the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company, aims to relieve the strain on existing power lines, reduce dependence on costly gas turbines, and ensure a steady supply of reliable electricity for homes and businesses.

Geothermal energy stands out as a game-changer in the fight against climate change. Unlike fossil fuels, it produces virtually no harmful carbon emissions, thus significantly benefiting public health and the environment.
