Kerala University to Launch 40 New PG Programs and Establish Centre for Rare Earths in 2026 Budget

Kerala University's 2026-27 Budget of ₹888.33 crore includes plans to launch 40 new one-year postgraduate programs in AI, quantum technologies, and semiconductor devices. Infrastructure development on the Karyavattom campus is prioritized with initiatives such as a model waste management plant and enhanced research facilities.

Notably, a Centre for Rare Earths and Advanced Materials will be established to support the 'Rare Earth Corridor' project. The Centre for Advanced Cancer Research will focus on AI-assisted strategies for cardiac and pancreatic cancer, with allocations of ₹20 lakh each for research initiatives. A semi-automated recycling plant with a budget of ₹25 lakh will also be set up.
