King Thunderbird Centre Opens in Edmonton to Support Boyle Street Community Services
The King Thunderbird Centre has opened in Edmonton as a new facility for Boyle Street Community Services, developed by Chandos Construction. This 85,000-square-foot building repurposes an existing structure on a 2.5-acre site in McCauley, housing over 200 staff to support thousands of individuals annually.
It has achieved Zero Carbon Building Design v3 certification, featuring renewable energy systems that generate 206.9MWh through solar panels and geothermal energy. The project involved significant upgrades and extensive Indigenous consultation to integrate cultural elements. Chandos has also committed $15,000 annually to support Boyle Street's Emergency Response Fund, addressing urgent community needs.
