KLM Advocates for National Fund to Support Sustainable Aviation Fuel in the Netherlands

KLM supports the Wennink Report's recommendation for the Dutch government to invest in a national fund for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This fund would accelerate the production of alternative jet fuels and make them more affordable.

KLM is committed to cleaner operations and exceeds European SAF usage requirements. A long-term agreement has been made to support the construction of the Netherlands' first dedicated SAF production facility in Delfzijl.

To meet the goal of a 14% SAF blending target by 2030, alternative fuels need to be more affordable and widely available. KLM suggests that the national SAF fund could be financed through existing air travel tax revenues, positioning the Netherlands as a leader in sustainable aviation.
