Krey Schiffahrt Orders New Eco-Friendly Heavy Lift Vessels from Taizhou Sanfu
Krey Schiffahrt, founded in 1991 by Georg Krey, is upgrading its fleet of modern multipurpose and heavy lift vessels toward eco-friendly standards. Four older vessels have been sold, five are operational, and three are set to arrive from China by the end of 2026.
The first newbuild, the 'BBC Vaasa,' will enter service this month. The new F500MPP vessels are equipped with two 250-ton cranes and are designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by over 35% compared to similar tonnage.
Construction of two F500MPP vessels is underway at Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering, with a unit price of approximately $30 million. These environmentally friendly vessels will meet the upcoming IMO EEDI standards effective in 2025. Krey has also ordered a methanol-ready F600 XL unit with enhanced lifting capabilities.
