Kulani Energy Acquires Optipower Assets to Enhance South Africa's Power Transmission Capacity
Kulani Energy has acquired critical assets from Optipower through its subsidiary, OptiProjects, to enhance power transmission capacity in South Africa. The acquisition, finalized in January 2026, supports the country's grid expansion amid Optipower's business rescue. The deal enables Kulani Energy to deliver high-voltage transmission lines and renewable energy projects while addressing financing gaps in local construction.

Kulani Energy acquired critical assets from Optipower, enhancing its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) capacity for South Africa's grid expansion. The acquisition, finalized at the end of January 2026, was executed during Optipower's business rescue, preserving essential EPC capabilities.
OptiProjects will manage high-voltage transmission lines and renewable energy initiatives. The acquisition was funded by Differential Capital, addressing funding gaps in the construction sector. Kulani Energy is now contracted for a 100MW solar project in Guinea, valued at R2.9 billion, indicating regional demand for its services.
