Louis Dreyfus Co. (LDC) has commenced operations of a new specialized milling line at its Timbúes agro-industrial complex in Santa Fe, Argentina, enhancing its capacity to process high-oil content seeds like camelina, carinata, canola, and sunflower.
This addition allows the plant to process up to 3,000 additional tonnes of seeds per day during off-peak seasons, alongside its standard capacity of 7,000 tonnes of soybeans per day. The investment includes specialized equipment designed for efficient processing, including five presses and various cookers and separators.
The processed meal will serve as animal feed, while the oil will contribute to producing sustainable aviation fuel and hydrotreated vegetable oils. LDC, in partnership with Camelina Co., is promoting regenerative agriculture practices in crop rotations, particularly focusing on camelina cultivation in South America over the next decade.
