Liang Jie has joined the Eastern Institute of Technology in Ningbo, China, as a chair professor at the School of Electronic Science and Technology. The institute, launched in 2025, has received significant support from a semiconductor entrepreneur.

Previously, Liang founded the AI company AltumView in Canada in 2016, known for its Sentinare intelligent sensor system. He was elected a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in June 2022. Liang holds degrees from Xian Jiaotong University, the National University of Singapore, and Johns Hopkins University.
