The Lompoc Unified School District has received a $45.4 million grant aimed at the renovation and construction of Manzanita Public Charter School, part of a $60.5 million total project budget. This initiative targets facility deficiencies, which previously ranked the school #40 on the 2019 Deputy Secretary of Defense Priority List.
The project will accommodate 522 students from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade, enhancing educational standards for families connected to defense. The necessity of this funding was confirmed by a Federal Evaluation Team from multiple military branches. Completion of this project is expected to aid in retaining skilled personnel at Vandenberg Space Force Base.
