Mansfield's Board of Control awarded a $587,180 design contract to Encorus Group Engineering for a new electrical substation for the 179th Cyberspace Wing. This $8.4 million project, approved by the Mansfield City Council in August 2025, will be reimbursed by the National Guard Bureau.
The substation is necessary to accommodate increased electrical demands following the unit's transition to a cyberspace wing in 2023. Construction is needed by early 2028. The substation will connect to the Ohio Edison Longview-Ontario 138 kV line and will include medium voltage switchgear, a transformer, and a circuit breaker.
