Massachusetts Launches $3 Million BioNexus Program for Defense Biotechnology Innovation
Massachusetts has initiated the BioNexus program, offering up to $3 million for advancements in biotechnology and biomanufacturing for the U.S. Army. This effort, led by the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition, aims to integrate research and industry to enhance defense capabilities.

The BioNexus program in Massachusetts will allocate up to $3 million for companies, universities, and research institutions to develop solutions in biotechnology and biomanufacturing for the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM).
This initiative is an extension of the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition's efforts, which have focused on microelectronics since 2023. The program targets ten strategic challenges defined by the U.S.
Army, including military nutrition technologies and advanced biosensors. Interested parties must submit proposals by July 17, 2026, to access funding for their technology projects. The program aims to create jobs and strengthen the state's economy while supporting national security.
