Mexico City Airport Increases Fees Ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026
Mexico City International Airport (AICM) raised its Airport Usage Fee (TUA) effective April 1, amid ongoing renovations. This adjustment, which affects both domestic and international flights, is linked to anticipated traffic growth related to the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Effective April 1, the Airport Usage Fee (TUA) at Mexico City International Airport rose by 2.9% for domestic flights and 3.01% for international flights. The domestic fee increased from US$29.70 to US$30.59, while the international fee rose from US$56.39 to US$58.09, reflecting federal tariff updates tied to currency fluctuations.
The fee adjustment is crucial for supporting operational costs and infrastructure investments at AICM, which is managed federally by Mexico's Navy. Legal challenges regarding the fee-setting methodology are anticipated from industry stakeholders, emphasizing concerns over regulatory oversight and transparency. With renovations ongoing, the airport is currently 35% through a MX$8.5 billion improvement program aimed at enhancing operational reliability.
