Micron Opens $2.75 Billion Semiconductor Assembly Plant in Sanand, Gujarat, India
Micron Technology inaugurated its first semiconductor assembly and test facility in Sanand, Gujarat, with a $2.75 billion investment. The facility will convert DRAM and NAND wafers into finished memory products and aims to produce tens of millions of chips in 2026, scaling to hundreds of millions in 2027. It is the first project under the India Semiconductor Mission, marking a significant step in India's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. The site has begun commercial production and is expected to strengthen India's role in the global technology value chain.
