Micron Technology to Build Second Chip Facility in Taiwan's Tongluo to Meet AI Demand
Micron Technology plans to construct a second manufacturing facility in Tongluo, Taiwan, following its acquisition of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp's P5 site. The new facility aims to bolster production capacity for high-bandwidth memory (HBM), driven by increasing demand for AI memory solutions. Construction is expected to commence by the end of fiscal year 2026. The existing site, set to support shipments from fiscal 2028, features 300,000 square feet of cleanroom space, enhancing Micron's position in the competitive memory market.
