Mozambique Sees 70% Surge in Foreign Direct Investment by September 2025
Mozambique's Foreign Direct Investment reached US$4.724 billion by September 2025, marking a 69.7% increase from 2024. This growth is largely attributed to the extractive industry, particularly oil and gas projects, which are expected to drive further investment in 2026.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Mozambique rose to US$4.724 billion by September 2025, a 69.7% increase from US$2.784 billion in the same period of 2024. The extractive industry accounted for US$4.417 billion, with oil and gas attracting US$3.578 billion and coal extraction reaching US$625 million.
Major Projects continue to dominate investment flows, comprising 83.7% of the total. The Netherlands, Italy, Mauritius, and South Africa are the primary sources of FDI. Mozambique anticipates FDI to reach US$5.88 billion in 2026, driven by LNG projects in the Rovuma Basin. This growth may enhance Mozambique's economic stability and attract further international interest.
