MSEDCL Launches Real-Time Substation Monitoring System in Maharashtra
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has launched a statewide Substation Monitoring System (SMS) for real-time monitoring of substations. The initiative aims to enhance power reliability and service quality by enabling quicker fault detection and response. Developed at low cost, the SMS allows central control room officials to monitor electricity flow, voltage levels, and equipment status, significantly reducing fault resolution time. Consumers will receive SMS alerts for feeder-level faults, improving service transparency and efficiency.

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has introduced a Substation Monitoring System (SMS) across the state to enable real-time digital surveillance of substations. This system enhances network visibility and operational efficiency, allowing officials to monitor electricity flow, voltage levels, and equipment status continuously.
With this technology, the control room can quickly identify fault sources, facilitating faster maintenance responses. Consumers will receive SMS alerts for feeder-level faults. The initiative supports the solarisation of agricultural feeders, ensuring stable daytime power supply.
