National Geothermal Centre and Renewable Energy Association Forge Strategic Partnership to Propel Geothermal Energy Development in the UK

GEOTHERMAL

The National Geothermal Centre (NGC) has made a significant stride in the advancement of geothermal energy in the UK by entering into a memorandum of understanding with the Renewable Energy Association (REA). This strategic partnership is poised to unify the sector's voice, streamline policy initiatives, and drive investment and regulatory progress essential for the deployment of geothermal energy.

Founded in 2001, the REA has consistently championed renewable technologies, advocating for an energy system that is not only sustainable but also secure and economically viable. In this new collaboration, the REA will serve as the secretariat for the Deep Geothermal All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), while the NGC will continue its leadership role under the UK Geothermal Taskforce, spearheaded by CEO Dr. Charlotte Adams and board member Professor Jon Gluyas.

Together, these two pivotal organizations will engage in policy development, coordinate stakeholder efforts, and refine sector messaging to ensure that geothermal energy occupies a central position in the UK's transition to a net-zero economy. As they embark on this partnership, the NGC and REA are set to navigate the next phase of growth for geothermal energy, aligning their expertise and resources to make a lasting impact in the renewable energy landscape.
