National Grid Partners with Ayvens to Transition 1,000 Vehicles to EV Leasing, Reducing CO2 Emissions

POWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) is transitioning 1,000 vehicles from an employee car ownership scheme to EV leasing through a partnership with Ayvens. This shift will result in an annual reduction of 4,474 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

NGED's head of fleet, Chris Mayell, emphasized the importance of electrifying their fleet to meet net zero targets. Employees will have access to various EV models, including those from Tesla, Polestar, and BMW, available for lease periods of two to four years. Additionally, NGED is investing in a charging network, offering over 500 charging points and 176 rapid charger bays at primary substations, ensuring EV drivers are within 10 miles of a charging point.
