National Grid to Construct New Substation in Holbeach to Enhance Power Supply
POWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION
The South Holland District Council has approved a new electricity substation to be built by National Grid in Holbeach, addressing future power supply issues. The substation will feature two transformers, underground cabling, and an 11kV switchboard, designed to blend with the rural landscape.
This upgrade, necessary due to inadequate grid capacity, aims to prevent power outages by 2028 and severe overloading by 2034. The infrastructure will support local electricity needs and encourage investment and development in the area. Construction will commence after technical preparations, with operations expected to begin in the coming years.
