National Grid Utility Rates Increasing for Central New York Customers Again
National Grid's Central New York customers will experience a second utility rate increase starting April 1, 2026. This is part of a three-year rate plan approved in August 2025, reflecting ongoing infrastructure upgrades and rising delivery charges.

Beginning April 1, 2026, National Grid will raise residential electric bills by approximately 7.32%, translating to an average increase of $6.44 for customers using 625 kilowatt-hours. Natural gas bills will see an 11.69% rise, equating to an additional $8.08 for those using 78 therms.
This adjustment is part of a three-year plan sanctioned by the New York State Public Service Commission, which aims to fund infrastructure upgrades and storm response. This marks the second phase of the rate increase, following an initial adjustment in September 2025, with further changes anticipated in subsequent years. The rising costs are attributed largely to delivery charges, which are influenced by state mandates and infrastructure maintenance needs.
