NEOM Green Hydrogen Plant in Saudi Arabia Nears Completion with $8.4 Billion Investment
The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company is set to launch the world's largest green hydrogen facility in 2027, with 80% of construction completed. Utilizing 4 GW of renewable energy, the plant aims to produce 600 tons of clean hydrogen daily, marking a significant shift in global energy dynamics.

The NEOM Green Hydrogen facility in Saudi Arabia, a joint venture among NEOM, ACWA Power, and Air Products, has reached 80% completion as of Q1 2025. With an investment of $8.4 billion, it will utilize 4 GW of renewable energy from solar and wind sources to produce 600-650 tons of green hydrogen daily.
This project also aims to generate 1.2 million tons of green ammonia annually and avoid up to 5 million tons of CO2 emissions each year. Despite the adjusted operational timeline to 2027, the project's robust financing and environmental benefits position it as a leader in the energy transition. However, potential logistical challenges and reliance on emerging technologies could pose risks for timely completion.
