Nevis Engages in Geothermal Energy Discussions Ahead of Global Summit
A delegation from St. Kitts and Nevis, led by Naftalie Errar of NEVLEC, is participating in energy discussions in Portugal. The outcomes of this strategic visit aim to advance Nevis' geothermal energy initiatives, enhancing regional energy resilience and collaboration.

Nevis Electricity Company (NEVLEC) Project Coordinator Naftalie Errar is part of a delegation attending high-level energy discussions in Portugal, aimed at enhancing the island's geothermal energy initiatives. The trip, under the EU's Global Gateway initiative, includes meetings in Lisbon and the Azores, concluding at the Global Sustainable Islands Summit (GSIS) from April 20-22 in Gran Canaria, Spain.
The delegation includes representatives from various Caribbean nations and organizations, reflecting a shared goal of developing effective energy solutions. Insights gained from interactions with geothermal operators will inform Nevis' move towards full-scale geothermal production, addressing high energy costs and enhancing economic resilience. The discussions at GSIS will focus on EU-Caribbean energy partnerships, potentially opening avenues for financing and collaborative projects.
