Nigeria Advocates for Inclusive Hydrogen Economy at UN Conference
Nigeria has called on the United Nations to promote an equitable hydrogen economy, emphasizing inclusivity in the transition to clean energy. The move aims to prevent historical inequalities in value creation within the hydrogen sector.

Nigeria's Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, urged the UN to foster a fair hydrogen economy during the UNIDO International Conference on Hydrogen in Industry in Vienna. He highlighted the need for inclusive policies that do not repeat past inequalities where value generation is limited to specific regions, while others serve only as raw material suppliers.
Bagudu stressed hydrogen's potential as a catalyst for industrialization, job creation, and energy security, calling for strategic investments and international cooperation to realize these benefits. The conference emphasized the necessity of equitable frameworks to mobilize investment and strengthen partnerships, particularly for nations rich in renewable resources.
