NoPo Nanotechnologies Scales Carbon Nanotube Production for Semiconductor and Battery Markets
NoPo Nanotechnologies, based in Bengaluru, India, has inaugurated a pilot production line for single-walled carbon nanotubes, aiming to become a key supplier for the semiconductor and battery industries. The company seeks to address the growing demand for alternative suppliers in the carbon nanotube market, competing against established players by leveraging advanced production techniques and local supply chains.

NoPo Nanotechnologies has launched a pilot production line for single-walled carbon nanotubes, positioning itself as a supplier to the semiconductor and battery industries. Founded in 2011, the company is establishing a new plant in Bengaluru, expected to be the second-largest carbon nanotube production facility worldwide.
The HiPco process, developed by co-founder Robert Kelley Bradley, allows for continuous production under high pressure and temperature, addressing challenges in consistency and performance. Current applications focus on batteries, polymers, and semiconductor nodes beyond 2 nm.
The company is developing local supply chains, with 90% of inputs sourced in India, enhancing operational efficiency. Their efforts in sodium-ion battery research reflect a commitment to exploring lower-cost alternatives in battery technology. This strategic focus on supply chain control may provide competitive advantages amid rising global demand.
