Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Ecosystem Partnership Formed by Northern Europe Energy Group, SEFE, and BHC Consortium
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Northern Europe Energy Group, SEFE, and the BHC consortium to develop a hydrogen value chain linking the Nordic-Baltic region to Germany. This collaboration aims to create a scalable hydrogen corridor that enhances energy resilience and reduces reliance on fossil imports.

At WindWorks 2026 in Riga, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed among Northern Europe Energy Group AS, SEFE, and the Baltic Sea Hydrogen Collector consortium. This partnership focuses on establishing an integrated hydrogen value chain to connect the Nordic-Baltic region with Germany, leveraging abundant renewable resources and industrial potential.
Northern's flagship project in Latvia is set to produce around 100,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, with significant exports anticipated to Germany and other EU markets. The BHC consortium, consisting of Gasgrid Finland, GASCADE Gastransport, and Copenhagen Energy Islands, provides the necessary offshore transport corridor.
The project has received €15.3 million in EU funding and is recognized as a Project of Common Interest, with infrastructure expected to be operational by the early-to-mid-2030s. This initiative supports European energy independence, enhances hydrogen supply, and promotes industrial growth across the region.
