Norwegian Embassy Commends Ningbo's Xiangshan for Supporting Salmon Farming Project
The Norwegian Embassy in China praised Xiangshan county in Ningbo for its support of the Nordic Aqua salmon farming project. The letter from Henning Kristoffersen highlighted the region's efficient business environment and the project's capacity, which is expected to reach 20,000 metric tons. The facility, Asia's first large-scale land-based Atlantic salmon farm, relies on stable electricity supplied by a new transmission line and substation funded by the local government.

The Norwegian Embassy in China recognized Xiangshan county in Ningbo for its support of the Nordic Aqua land-based salmon farming project, detailed in a letter from Henning Kristoffersen. The farm, located on Gaotang Island, is Asia's first large-scale facility using a recirculating aquaculture system and produces approximately 70 metric tons of salmon weekly.
To facilitate its operations, the Xiangshan government funded a 35-kilovolt transmission line and substation, ensuring stable power supply. The first phase has reached an annual capacity of 4,000 metric tons, with expectations to increase to 20,000 tons as expansion continues, reinforcing Xiangshan's reputation as an investment hub.
