NTPC and EDF Sign MoU for Nuclear Project Cooperation in India
NTPC Ltd has signed a non-binding MoU with EDF to explore nuclear power development in India, aligning with India's clean energy goals. This partnership aims to evaluate EDF's reactor technology and enhance local expertise, supporting the country’s long-term energy strategy.

NTPC Ltd has entered a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with Électricité de France (EDF) to assess nuclear power development in India. The framework includes feasibility studies on EDF's European Pressurised Reactor technology, localization opportunities for large-scale deployment, economic evaluations, and development of human resources through training programs.
NTPC, India's largest integrated power utility, operates over 89 GW of installed capacity, with a target of 149 GW by 2032, including 60 GW from renewables. This initiative supports India's goal of achieving 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047, up from the current 8.78 GW. As NTPC diversifies into sectors like e-mobility and green hydrogen, the collaboration with EDF will be crucial for enhancing technical capabilities in India's nuclear sector.
