Ohio Power Siting Board to Vote on Revised FirstEnergy Power Line Project in Youngstown
The Ohio Power Siting Board will vote on a revised power line proposal by FirstEnergy's American Transmission Systems, initially rejected in 2022 due to community opposition. The new 6.25-mile project aims to connect Riverbend and Lincoln Park substations, enhancing local electric grid reliability and serving 15,000 customers. Construction, pending approval, is set for November 2027, with an estimated cost of $27 million and expected annual tax revenues of $4.1 million for local communities.

The Ohio Power Siting Board will review a revised power line proposal by American Transmission Systems, a FirstEnergy subsidiary, after an initial rejection in 2022. The updated 6.25-mile, 138-kilovolt project will connect Riverbend and Lincoln Park substations in Youngstown and Campbell, serving 15,000 customers.
Construction is projected to start in November 2027 at a cost of $27 million, with completion by December 2028. The project will create temporary jobs and generate approximately $4.1 million in annual local taxes. Public meetings were held to address community concerns about the project.
