Oman Advances Aviation Decarbonisation with CESAR Framework and SAF Production Agreement
Oman's Civil Aviation Authority has partnered with CESAR at Sultan Qaboos University to create a framework for decarbonising its aviation sector. The project aims to produce an emissions inventory from 2015 to 2024 and explore Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production in collaboration with OQ Group and SkyNRG. This initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, positioning Oman as a leader in sustainable aviation.

Oman's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has engaged the Centre of Environmental Studies and Research (CESAR) at Sultan Qaboos University to develop a framework for transitioning to a low-carbon aviation sector. The project aims to assess aviation emissions from 2015 to 2024 and explore decarbonisation pathways, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production.
Collaboration with airlines and government entities will ensure practical solutions. The initiative supports Oman Vision 2040 and the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The CAA's broader National Aviation Strategy 2040 emphasizes compliance with international environmental standards and sustainability in aviation development.
