Oman Advances Integrated Semiconductor Manufacturing Ecosystem
Oman is actively developing a semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem to enhance its role in the global digital economy. The initiative targets competencies in chip design, R&D, and international partnerships amid significant industry challenges.

Oman is working to establish an integrated semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem as part of its Vision 2040 digital transformation agenda. Key focus areas include chip design, research and development, and forming international partnerships.
Currently, manufacturing occurs overseas due to the lack of local facilities, emphasizing reliance on global supply chains. Approximately 100 engineers are involved in design and development, supported by training programs to address specialized skill gaps.
The initiative aims to bolster sectors such as telecommunications and automotive while fostering a local ecosystem for long-term economic diversification and skilled job creation. Oman's strategy also includes expanding research and developing new chip generations.
