Pakistan Plans Maritime Energy City to Enhance Energy Logistics Hub
Pakistan aims to establish a Maritime Energy City (PMEC) to support regional energy logistics and storage, enhancing economic growth. This initiative aligns with the Hundred Years Vision 2047-2147 for maritime development, emphasizing both domestic and international energy needs.

The Pakistan Maritime Energy City (PMEC) initiative is set to enhance the country's role as a regional energy logistics hub. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced the establishment of a 12-member committee to identify locations for new deep-sea ports and associated infrastructure, part of a broader strategy for maritime expansion.
The PMEC will facilitate the storage of oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for both domestic use and export. Smaller energy facilities will be developed to support major ports, enhancing operational efficiency.
Feasibility reports for three to four new ports are nearing completion, indicating significant progress in Pakistan's maritime infrastructure development. This initiative could generate significant revenue and ensure stable supply chains amid regional instability.
